Dear Collegues,
EFOMP has just uploaded on its brand new website www.efomp.org an important document entitled ‘Quality control in cone beam computed tomography’. This book is the second of the series on quality control protocols. We published the first document on ‘Quality Controls in digital mammography’ in 2015. These books are freely available and can be used as both, in-depth working guides to everyday practice and an up-to-date reference sources for medical physicists engaged in quality control of medical imaging systems. An executive summary of the CBCT protocol has been published in EFOMP official journal, Physica Medica (EJMP) (open access) and a corresponding link has been added in the efomp web page for the CBCT protocol.I wish you happy reading!"

International Day of Medical Physics 2017 on the occasion of the 150th anniversary from the birth of Marie Curie
To raise awareness about the role medical physicists play, IOMP organizes annually the International Day of Medical Physics (IDMP) on November 7th. The Hellenic Association of Medical Physicists, considers this occasion a great opportunity to increase awareness of the public regarding the profession. The year 2017 was the biggest event ever with 4 hellenic women medical physicists being awarded for their work. The event was held at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on Friday November 11th under the auspices of the University. The event was under the auspices of UNESCO that has a pioneering programme for the promotion of women in science. It was also, supported by the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy. The primacy of culture in health education activities is to deepen and extend the possibilities of progressive approaches that focus on culture. The coordinator of IDMP, Prof John Damilakis, current President of EFOMP opened the event followed by presentations devoted to the work and current global status of medical physicists. The final part of the session was devoted to honour Stavros Niarchos Foundation for the large scale grant, supporting the replacement of obsolete linear with new, state-of-the-art machines. HAMP has received an important donation for implementation of training programs for the medical physicists of these hospitals. The programs included theoretical and practical training in Greece and abroad, to ensure optimal operation of radiotherapy equipment.
